Ignition Fires Up Aussie Poker Players After Crushing Government Move

Australians spend more than $18 billion dollars per year on all forms of gambling, making them the highest gamblers per capita in the world, according to a University of Sydney study. Their $1,500 per capita gambling craze moved more toward poker after Australian Joe Hachem won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2005. However, this year the Australian government moved to close legislative loopholes that allow online poker providers to serve the nation.

In August, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that new legislation was leading to an exodus of online poker giant including PokerStars, Poker Party, and 888Poker, which have been providing accounts to an estimated 130,000 Australian players.

“Poker service 888Poker told its Australian users earlier this year that their accounts would be closed and they should withdraw their funds. PokerStars is expected to withdraw from Australia once the new laws take effect,” reported SMH.

However, with a history of flaunting national laws, Ignition Poker, the .eu site formerly known as Bovada, announced its move into the Australian market as other companies withdrew their services in fear of facing daily, multi-million dollar fines.

Australian Legislation Closes Loopholes, Hangs Online Poker Economy

In the past, gambling policy in Australia has been dealt with by the states rather than the Commonwealth. However, growing concerns about the social impact of online gambling led to the Interactive Gambling Bill 2001 being assented to on July 11, 2001.

This year, the Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill 2016 closed loopholes that allowed “in-play” live betting online.

“It’s stupid,” Liberal Democrats senator David Leyonhjelm told The Huffington Post Australia. “If you want to play poker, there are lots of opportunities in Australia, at casinos and tournaments. It’s not as if there isn’t a great deal of poker playing already, but they’re just stopping it online. The whole world is online now.”

Though the law prevents unlicensed operators from offering real-money virtual gambling to Australian players, it does not prevent Australians from accessing or using online gambling services – that’s still completely legal.

So, Australian poker players who want to play online can do so if they can find a provider, such as Ignition Poker, who is willing to take the risk of open accounts for them.

Ignition Poker Fuels Australian Poker Players

The brazen decision by Ignition Poker to open accounts for Australian poker players came through a generic email that was sent out to affiliates and other major iGaming media outlets.

Ignition Poker, part of the Pai Wang Luo Network, is the largest poker site in the United States and renowned for having the softest tables in the industry. The tables stay soft for a number of factors, from the company’s focus on recreational players to the simple fact that all games are anonymized. All players are referred to by non-identifying numbers. On top of this, seat selection is no longer an edge for those paying close attention due to the Quick Seat feature, which automatically moves players to an empty seat.

By pooling players from the United States, Canada, China, Vietnam, Australia and several Latin American countries through the Pai Wang Luo Network, which also hosts sister sites Bodog and Bodog88, Ignition Poker is able to maintain an average of 1,200+ cash-game players at any given time. Ignition Poker also offers tournament play with buy-ins ranging from $0.25 to $540, including both Holdem and Omaha variants.

Bitcoin Poker Deposits

Due to the anonymity of transferring funds through bitcoin, Ignition Poker provides plenty of incentives to Australian players, as well as everyone else, to use the cryptocurrency. In general, gambling operations that run on bitcoin don’t care from where their clients are playing.

If you are using bitcoin, there are no deposit fees or withdrawal fees. Additionally, withdraws are paid out in 1-15min instead of the standard 4-10 days.

Australian Welcome Bonus

In its bid to bring on board the Australian market, Ignition Poker is offering a solid welcome bonus of $1,000. When you make your initial deposit, you will automatically get a 100% Poker Welcome Bonus up to $1,000. You then have 30 days to unlock as much of it as possible by earning Poker Points.

Ignition Fires Up Aussie Poker Players After Crushing Government Move

Though poker giants, such as PokerStars, Party Poker, and 888Poker are fleeing the Australian market as Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill 2016 is pushed through, Australian poker players don’t need to panic. Ignition Poker is quickly moving in to fill the void, offering a healthy welcome bonus and some of the softest tables online.

Have any further questions, reach out to Ignition Poker and let them sort you out, get you back at a table, and felting your opponents.

Why Poker players have to Warm UP?

Every time you sit at the poker table you can win or you can lose. What makes the difference?

Factor one – variance. When you move all-in preflop with Pocket Aces in NL Holdem and lose the hand, you are face to face with Her Royal Highness Variance. Variance is the mathematical certainty that even when you have the best hand, you will, sometimes, lose. What can we do about this? Nothing. So accept it – in fact, embrace it, variance exists. Also, If weaker players would not win sometimes they would very quickly give up. Would you step into a boxing ring with a world champion fighter if every time you did you got beat up? How about if you won 4 out of 10 times? Perhaps you might start to think about it? This is what makes the games profitable. Do not let your experience of being on the wrong side of variance impact the quality of your play. Over time the best players will always win.

Factor two – how well you play, the quality of your game. You can play at your best or you can play below your best (in poker we call this playing outside of your A-game). If you were to plot the performance of your game over a large enough sample size, it would inevitably look something like this:

whywarmup

There are many factors aside from your technical poker skill that contribute to the quality of your game:

  • Your focus
  • Your motivation
  • How aware you are of your own weaknesses
  • The extent to which distracting factors influence you and many other factors besides.

Poker Warm-Up is a web-based application that allows poker players to create a well-structured and individual poker warm-up routine which prepares them to perform at the top of their poker abilities. Nobody can play their A-game all the time, but by warming up you can increase the likelihood will start your session in the right mindset and more often, while at the same time minimizing the chance that your terrible C-game occur! Another benefit of warming up and playing your best game is that learning in poker becomes a much easier and smoother process.

What are Poker Leaks?

“A Poker Leak is a recurring flaw in a poker player’s strategy or a style of play that consistently makes him less profitable than he could be or even causes him to be a losing player.”

It is usually caused by a lack of technical knowledge, discipline or emotional control (known as Tilt). The main reason some poker players,  also known as -sharks-, can be so profitable is that they are not only good at identifying and constantly using the leaks of their opponents, but also able to identify their own leaks which makes them lose less money even when cards run bad for them.

Leaks can be Technical meaning that they are caused by a lack of technical or statistical knowledge or Mental (Mind Leaks), causing a player to make wrong decisions even when they technically prepared to make the correct decision. Being able to Identify and fix leaks must be a primary goal for any serious poker player. Leak identification is a huge topic and to successfully pinpoint your leaks and correct them will require a lot of hard work. Some good starting points and general ideas are outlined in this “How to Identify Leaks” blog post.

Every time just before you start playing, One by one, recollect each of your leaks. By doing this you force your brain to recognize situations preceding the particular leak in your game.  For every leak there is a correct way of thinking (solution) which will help you to make a correct decision when you encounter a similar situation again. Once you have identified a leak and the corresponding solution (the correct way of thinking) you must update your personalized Poker Warm Up.  When you edit a leak you can also record a corresponding example hand which reminds you what happened last time and what should not happen again. This is an important tool that will help you to recollect the solution to the leak when you are playing live.

By going through the thick forest of your leaks you bring this information to the very front of your brain allowing you to recognize the forthcoming problem quicker and more often and adjust accordingly.

By recurring repetition of this process (ideally every day before your session, or even several times a day) you are making a new habit of recognizing, fighting and eliminating your leaks. Essentially it makes your “learn while you play” process far more effective.
